Theresa Parker started Parkers Accounting in 2015 after having 27 years’ experience of working with a varied range of businesses within both the accountancy and the commercial sector.
Unlike many accountants in practice, Theresa has real hands-on experience of what it takes to operate a successful business. Prior to starting up her own accountancy practice, Theresa specialised in Strategic Business Development and as a result now acts for many clients providing them with a unique blend of financial, taxation and general management advice all delivered personally.

Start-Up businesses need special attention to detail in the early stages and often find that it is difficult to obtain help from the larger accountancy firms who consider them to be unprofitable. Having worked in the commercial sector, as well as the accountancy sector this adds another layer of unique qualities that small businesses can benefit from. Working in the accountancy sectors brings the experience required for producing accounts and calculating tax liabilities, but working in the commercial environment provides experience with developing processes such as for sales ordering, stock management, sales invoicing and payment processes, health and safety, risk assessments, staff employment and training, marketing etc. No business is the same and one size does not fit all.
On starting her accountancy practice, Theresa wanted to be different from the average high street accountant. She wanted to empower her clients by sharing her experiences and giving them the tools to understand their own finances.
